haiku 4.29.11

if your flesh bears the
sting forgive me; i bring sweet
honey to soothe you.

tough and beautiful you

the soul of your smile...
is it so rare
that you don't realize
it is the only source of wealth
that grows more and more
as you give it to me?
you've claimed without speaking
'it's been broken enough'
in tiny balled up brown fists
of defiance
and sarcasm that cuts
like rusty machetes in swamps
and since all i want to do
is whatever i can to
align all of those pieces better
held together tough and brave
that compose a beautiful you
i'll put words aside
and take my tears
and blood that bears your name
and put them to work
as a caring heart's glue.

tanka 4.28.11

you sat next to me
quiet save for the burst
of fire in your eyes;
those fireworks from your heart
had my touch as a slow start.

tender vines

i dream of sleeping
within the tender vines upon
your feet
letting each smile in my slumber
encourage roses to grow
and each flower
when you honor me with your smile
greets me
from the sunset in your skin below your eyes
to the petals of pleasure just below.

untitled 4.23.11

its plain to see
why you're allergic to strawberries;
they envy you
for your cheeks when they are in full blush
for they are certainly more sweet
than a strawberry's own flesh
at their most lush.

haiku 4.20.11

if i kiss your cheeks
it is to be drunk with the
wine beneath your skin.

sharp smile(19 of 30)

now i find minutes
mimicking fireflies in the dark
and i'm counting moments until
time manages
to reunite us
where i can sit and hear you
laugh and cut slices of sunshine
with each smile you let escape
through the windows within you
i don't need to wish to grow wings
because my soul already
knows how to fly towards you.

haiku 4.14.11 (14 of 30)

"derriere anglais", jeanloup sieff, 1969

she turns me on like
'the clapper' but with her lips
instead of her hands

drifting blossoms(for Sagal)

Bob Dylan and Suze Rotolo

remember me then
when we bent firewater to our will
and the sun stood still
and laughed
at how we walked with each other
keep in mind
those words i collected
for your and your heart
that came down to earth
with rain and pieces of old mountains
remember us then
when you may not stand me now
and your lips
feel cold as winter not looking to leave
as you felt i did
remember me when
you write at the rise of night
in the midst of Sade's 'Cherish The Day'
for i will do the same
as long as the wind blows softly.

haiku 4.5.11

i only hope that
this summer is as hot as
your lips by my ear.

baking soda verse

there is something to be said
when staring at a nearly empty fridge
not knowing
if you've got heart to fill it up
on your own
and maybe tomorrow
will turn that something
from curse word
to nothing.

the tide tells me(for sendai, japan)

i didn't
want to join the parade
of 21st century part time goths
we call performance poets
seizing on events
to bring life to deadened syllables
the tide called out to me
the tide
called me out to see
limbs and lost lives
piled high by cold Pacific surf asking
'has this satisfied your yen
for what a tragedy is really worth?'
while we watch indecisive pretty boys
sit on tabled mountains
and seasonal millionaires
complain about their 'slavery'
the tide called to me
telling me
mother nature
is tired of needles
skin stripped for minerals
the tide is telling me
hold your loved ones closely
'cause when the undertow comes
it will be too late
the tide is telling me
it can happen here
the tide
the tide
the tide
is telling me

watch between the waves

milis criona

(note; the title is an combination of Gaelic terms, literally
translated it means 'sweet heart')

there may be some
that do not fully comprehend
that a heart such as yours
does not move
will not move
without a beat of purpose
in its flesh
knowing you
and standing in your eyes
i see that it is
a certain kind of sugar
a certain kind of sweetness
that makes you move
one hears it in your voice
crackling with excess light
like a Sunday evening hearth
i can feel it
in my bones
warmed by sunbeams
woven together in your smile
if those who took their leave
stood awhile
they'd see
that your heart
has that certain kind of sugar
that nestles in the cracks of your spirit
you'd never think to fill
and that is why i'm grateful
you share a part of it with me.

haiku 4.2.11

exploding within
you would only add to the
star shine of your eyes
